 Dr. Peter Cowden is a widely recognized leader in the field of executive career management. A consulting psychologist and former Fortune 100 corporate manager, Peter has devoted the past twenty years to coaching and guiding executives.
As a corporate human resource executive and career management consultant, Peter recognized the need for custom-fitted, one-on-one career management services for senior managers. He founded Executive Destinations Inc. to focus exclusively on coaching senior executives. Since then, his firm has become well known for providing top quality, individualized career assessment, development and guidance.
Dr. Cowden has successfully guided hundreds of executives to new levels of leadership and career success. He works with organizations ranging from multi-national corporations to early-stage technology companies to venture capital firms to world-renown non-profit organizations. His clients have included Genuity, Akamai, BBN, AT&T, Verizon, Prudential, Thomson Financial, Mass Financial, Biogen, Astra Pharmaceuticals, Harvard Business School, Harvard University, Boston Symphony, Massachusetts Medical Society, AMP, Cabot Corporation, Agfa and Eastman Kodak. He has worked with numerous chief executive officers, chief operations officers, general managers and investment/legal partners.
Dr. Cowden’s corporate career includes five years as a corporate human resource executive with Eastman Kodak Company. Dr. Cowden has also held senior human resource positions with Agfa/Compugraphics and Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation. He has served on the board of directors and advisors of numerous companies both large and small.
Dr. Cowden combines a unique blend of academic training and corporate management expertise. He holds a doctorate from Harvard University and a masters degree from Yale University. He has taught and lectured at Harvard and Yale as well as for other universities, professional associations and conference sponsors. Dr. Cowden has authored numerous articles on career development, job satisfaction, downsizing and organizational change, which have appeared in professional journals such as the American Psychologist, Monthly Labor Review and American Journal of Psychology.
